Welcome
Welcome to St John’s
St. John’s is a friendly and inclusive, Church of England primary school for children aged 4-11 years. We have 4 classes and the current number of children on the school roll is 95 (September 2023).
We provide a caring and stimulating environment in which pupils and staff are happy, successful and prepared for life as a citizen of the modern world. We encourage positive social skills, self-respect and a caring attitude towards all others in the school and wider community.
Our dedicated and committed staff team and Governing Body are very proud of the education we offer. We believe that our emphasis on a family atmosphere, together with the expectation of high standards, provides children with an ideal beginning to their school lives. Our strong links with the parish Church, St Helen’s, help ensure that the education we offer is rooted in a distinctively Christian ethos.
The children at St John’s abide by the school’s motto, which is to be the BEST. The letters of the word ‘BEST’ are formed by our key values:
Believe
Endeavour
Succeed
Together
The pupils are proud of the school and its history; the school was built in 1837 and we remain in the original, beautiful Grade II listed Victorian building which is full of character and charm.
I hope that you find this website useful and it gives you an insight into school life here at St John’s. Please come and have a look around to get a feel for what makes our school special: our wonderful children.
I very much look forward to meeting you.
